Japanese Stir Fry

The other day, I had a strong craving for salty Chinese food. Instead of ordering takeout, I decided to create a dish that would satisfy my cravings without causing me to bloat but also being beneficial to my health. So into the kitchen I went and created this dish.

The secret ingredient in this dish that gives it all the flavour is miso paste. Miso paste is fermented soy, which is rich in essential minerals, a good source of vitamins B, E, K and folic acid. Miso provides the gut with beneficial bacteria that support our immune system, mental health and overall wellness. This recipe pairs so nicely with brown rice, soba noodles or even left on its own.

For the meat:

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

1 onions, minced

3 garlic cloves, minced

3 inch piece of ginger, grated

2 tsp miso paste (non-GMO)

450 g ground turkey, organic

For the veggies:

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

3 inch piece of ginger, grated

1 tsp miso paste (non-GMO)

3 carrots, chopped

1 head broccoli, separated into florets

¼ cup savoy cabbage, shredded

¼ cup filtered water

Green onion (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

1. Heat wok over medium heat and add olive oil.

2. Sautee onions until translucent.

3. Add garlic, ginger and miso paste and sautee for 2-3 minutes.

4. Add turkey meat and cook until meat turns white and is fully cooked, about 10-15 minutes.

5. Transfer meat onto plate and set aside.

6. Add olive oil to wok and sautee onion until translucent.

7. Next, add garlic, ginger and miso paste and satee for 2-3 minutes.

8. Add carrots and broccoli and cook for 7-10 minutes until vegetables soften.

9. Next, add cabbage and combine well.

10. Add filtered water and let cook for an additional 7-10 minutes or until vegetables reach desired texture. Remove from heat.

11. Plate vegetables and turkey on top, garnish with fresh green onions and sesame seeds.

Give this recipe a try and I promise you won't want to ever order Chinese takeout again!
